Emily R. Katz

Ms. Katz began her career as a Seminole, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at the Florida State University as an English major, with a Concentration in Business. She graduated with Honors in 2003. While in Tallahassee Ms. Katz honed her exemplary writing skills, further developing them at the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law. While earning her Juris Doctorate at the University of Florida, Ms. Katz received the Legal Research and Writing Award of Distinction as well as the Appellate Advocacy Award of Distinction.

As a Dean's List student in law school, Ms. Katz kept a full schedule. She served as a legal intern for the 8th Judicial Circuit, Family Law Division in 2006, and earned a Pro Bono Certificate by participating in the Alachua County Teen Court program. In between a heavy class load, Ms. Katz interned at Smith, Hiatt & Diaz, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale in 2007, as well as working with The Virgil Hawkins Civil Clinic as a Certified Legal Intern. Ms. Katz earned her law degree in May 2008 and completed extra course work to earn a certificate in Family Law.

Ms. Katz joined Grower Ketcham upon graduation. She is focused on Healthcare and Hospital law, with an emphasis on credentialing and Medical Staff Bylaws, workers’ compensation defense, subrogation defense, as well as general insurance defense and family law.

Ms. Katz is committed to giving back to her community and has participated in various pro bono projects, including Legal Aid Society phone screening, participation in the Teen Parent Program teaching teen-age parent about legal issues, the Citizen Dispute Settlement Program, and acting as a Guardian Ad Litem.  Outside the office, Ms. Katz enjoys hiking, camping, running, biking, wine tasting and reading.
